The value development of a watch is evaluated in comparison to the average development of our market portfolio. This implicates that developments, which have been evaluated to be under-average, are likely to still be positive. Since our portfolio embraces over 260 selected luxury watches with a high degree of popularity, the average portfolio development presents a high mean against which watches are rated. By this high-level comparison we increase the likelihood that over-average watches generate a profitable gain in value in the future.

The resale value is evaluated without a comparison to our market portfolio. The rating assesses whether or not the second-hand value of a watch lies above its original retail purchase price today.

The trend development is rated by whether or not it has been positive over the last years. It has to be noted that the development of search volume on Google for a specific term might be influenced by a variety of factors. For example, the volume might rise significantly in the short-term when the brand intensifies the promotion for its watch.

The movement is compared to our portfolio of over 260 popular mechanical watches. Our rating embraces indicators for the refinement of a movement and for its performance. These indicators might not have a direct effect on the value development of the watch. However, they can play an important role in case of extraordinary characteristics. A movement with a relatively low rating does not implicate a worse quality as compared to other movements.
